Maternal Health Heroes

Every month we’re highlighting an organization or legislator that is working hard to make a difference for Texas moms!

May 2020

February 2020

The United Way of Greater Austin has been actively combatting poverty in the Austin community since 1924. Their latest iniatives, Success by 6 and Family Connects, are helping moms and their children receive the resources they need to thrive. Shalyn Bravens, Director of Family Connects and MIECHV, gave us the scoop on what they’re up to and how we can support the work that they’re doing to improve maternal health in Texas.

December 2019

We’re closing out 2019 with one of our favorite organizations, Black Mamas Community Collective! We chatted with BMCC’s Executive Director, Nakeenya Wilson, to hear more about how BMCC is hard at work to support Central Texas women throughout and after pregnancy.

October 2019

It’s no secret that we’re big supporters of TCFC. They’ve been an integral part of essentially every piece of legislation that stood to benefit moms and children in Texas this past session (and well before that). Check out our conversation with them HERE.
