Healthcare for women and children is at the heart of United Methodist Women’s mission today and has been since the organization was founded in the 1800’s. Today, UMW continues to support the health and family needs of women and children around the globe. Locally, our home congregation, FUMC Austin, continues to support the mission of improving maternal health here in Texas.
Texans Care For Children
Texans Care For Children is an incredible organization dedicated to advocating for policy that impacts Texas children. Children’s health and maternal health are deeply intertwined and we collaborate with them on a multitude of efforts to create a healthier Texas.
Healing Hands Community Doula Project
Healing Hands Community Doula Project is on a mission to eliminate the negative birth outcome disparities and the high rates of maternal and infant mortality in Black women and infants by offering an enhanced perinatal care program to support African American women from conception through the first year of their child’s life.
Every Mother Counts
A global organization, Every Mother Counts aims to achieve quality, respectful, and equitable maternity care for all by giving grants and working with partners and thought leaders to increase awareness and mobilize communities to take action.

Texas Women’s HealthCare Coalition
The Texas Women’s Healthcare Coalition is a coalition of organizations promoting access to preventive healthcare for all Texas women. We are proud members of this collaborative effort to help all women have access to care that will ensure safe and healthy pregnancies, births and lives.
Black Mamas Community Collective
Black Mamas Community Collective’s mission is to help black women survive and thrive during and after their pregnancies. Through their community outreach programs, they have made and continue to make a positive impact on families in Travis County.
Mama Sana
Mama Sana Vibrant Woman is a community organization that works to facilitate access to culturally appropriate and quality, prenatal and postnatal care for women of color in Austin and Travis County.
Postpartum Support International
Postpartum Support International promotes awareness, prevention and treatment of mental health issues related to childbearing in every country worldwide. Through advocacy, collaboration, education and training, PSI is working to ensure that every woman and family will have access to information, social support, and informed professional care to deal with pregnancy-related mental health issues
